GUIDELINES FOR THE PARENTS / GUARDIANS

Parents are required to fill all the details in the student’s personal data form with recent passport size photographs. Both the sheets should be signed by both the parents and local guardian (if applicable). A copy of student’s data form should be submitted to the class teacher on the prescribed date after getting the school diary. Photographs should be in school uniform (without the ID card).

Parents are required to co-operate with the school in its attempt to help their children’s progress by paying attention to their attendance, punctuality and discipline. Parents must show interest in their child’s work. They should check the diary everyday and note the instructions given by teachers.

(i) The telephone / mobile numbers provided in the personal data forms should be the current ones. Parents are required to inform the Principal, in writing if there is any change in their address and telephone numbers. Change of address should be backed up by relevant documents within three working days.

(ii) Parents are requested not to enter class rooms to see their children or teachers during the school hours.

(iii) Children, when sick should not be sent to school to attend classes.

(iv) Parents can meet the Principal, Vice-Principal and teachers on stipulated days or by appointment.

(v) Attendance of any one parents for the PTMs is compulsory and the class teacher should be informed in writing, prior to the meeting, if s/he is not able to attend the PTM.

(vi) We request parents not to make any travel plans before the Annual Day Programme / Proclamation of the Annual Result. This is your programme and the success of it lies with your help and cooperation

(vii) Any communication made by parents / guardian should be addressed to the Principal, Vice-Principal / Class teacher. All the details (name, class, section, roll number and admission registration number) of the student should be clearly mentioned in the application.

(viii) Parents can meet the coordinators and teachers during the visiting hours to discuss the progress of their ward.

(ix) Parents must first consult the school calendar, data sheet, school notices and other circulars before making any enquiries.

(x) Parents / guardians are requested not to approach the teachers for private tution for their wards. If any kind of help is required, then the parents / guardians are requested to get in touch with the Principal / Vice Principal and assistance may be considered as per the convenience of the school or the teacher.

(xi) Parents’ POSITIVE COOPERATION with the school is absolutely essential for the constructive upbringing of their sons. They are strongly exhorted to co-operate with the school:

a) Ensure that their wards are diligent at their home work and lessons. Please spend at least one hour of quality time with your ward every day.

b) Private tutions are discouraged by the school. Parents are requested to encourage the students to attend classes regularly and doing personal study and practice writing.

c) Insist on neatness and cleanliness in their work and personal appearance. Do not come to school in shabby appearance.

d) Urge the students to be regular and punctual.

e) Check the school diary on regular basis.

f) Meet the teachers on Fridays to discuss the progress of your wards.

(xii) Ordinarily communication with parents / guardians is made through, WhatsApp and the school calendar. On the last day of every month, the school calendar should be checked by the parents and signed with the word ‘CHECKED’.

(xiii)Parents / Guardians are not allowed to see their wards during class hours.

(a) St. Lawrence High School Staff cannot act as guardian/ caretaker to a school student. They will only provide general supervision/ survailence.

(b) Exemplary behaviour is expected from students and parents both within and outside the school campus.

(c) Though the school takes care of the students while in the school, the school cannot be held responsible for:

• Self inflicted or accidental mishap / injury, physical or otherwise, that may befall on your ward.
• If the student leaves the school campus without due written permission from the school authorities.

(d) Parents / Guardians who use the school’s name for personal benefits or those who defame the school may be liable to legal action.

(e) Parents / Guardians threatening the school authorities by various methods, by leveling malicious or false allegation which tends to bring dishonour to the school, its authorities or its employees or spreading rumours or giving false information which tends to bring into disrepute to the school or its employees or spreading panic among parents / students etc. might result in issuing of Transfer Certificate to their ward from the school.

(f) School welcomes positive and constructive suggestions and opinion of the parents. However parents and guardians cannot dictate the school authorities about the functioning of the school and its administration.

(g) All important communications to the school should be addressed to the Principal by letter or email.

(h) WhatsApp No. 94775 14552 is for information to parents and may be used only in emergency to communicate with the school only during school hours.

(i) For any type of academic or / and disciplinary issues related to your ward, kindly follow the procedure below:

• First meet the teacher concerned.

• If not satisfied with the outcome, then take the matter to the Vice-Principal (Senior or Primary), as the case may be.

• If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your meeting with the concerned Vice-Principal, then the parents may meet the Principal with an action taken report signed by both the parties (Parents as well as teachers / Vice-Principal).

N.B. (a) If the matter is grave, then they can always skip the above mentioned procedure and meet the Principal directly at the first instance itself by appointment.

(b) Student should wear the jerseys only on days of physical education or on days announced by the School. Otherwise it will be treated as not wearing proper uniform. Shirts and trousers should be of proper size and shade. Haircut should be decent. No style and fashion is acceptable. Identity Card is to be worn by the student at all times inside the school campus.

(xiv) Diary is to be brought to the School daily. Diary is to be checked by parents daily. Actions will be taken against students tearing the pages of the diary especially the note given by the teacher or school authority. Note to guardians should be checked and signed by the guardians regularly. Any correspondence from the parent can be written in ‘‘Note from Guardians” page very briefly in one line.
